History of Badminton

They also made the All England Open Badminton Championships, the first badminton competition in the world in 1889.

In 1934, the International Badminton Federation (IBF), which is now known as the World Badminton Federation was set up with Denmark,Scotland, UK, Netherlands, France, Ireland, Canada, Wales, and New Zealand as its first member. In 1936 India finally join as an affiliate. In 1948, the IBF also organizes major tournament named Thomas Cup, a tournament the world, followed by male participants. Since it also began to to appear another world championship for women like Uber Cup, World Championship, Sudirman Cup, World Junior Championship, and the World Grand Prix Finals.

In 1966, badminton was introduced as one of the programs in the Commonwealth Games in Kingston, Jamaica, and always be a part in every year after that. 1992 be a great year in the history of badminton because in that year inaugurated badminton as an Olympic sport in Barcelona after previously demonstrated in 1972 in Munich. In the same year, also in Atlanta held a competition and the first time there are branches of the mixed doubles.

Although started in Britain, Denmark has always dominated the badminton men's championships in Europe. While that dominated the world championships are always countries in Asia.
